New and Fun Dog Training Courses at Barley’s!

Time to work off those Winter Blues with some fun new dog training classes and workshops with our Barley’s Training Team! Check out what we have coming up, and feel free to contact us with any questions at training@swimatbarleys.com.  Puppy Social Hour: Tuesday, February 21st at 7:30pm. Tanja will be heading up the puppy training this month with a one-time social hour to get the pups socialized, and answer any questions you have about upcoming puppy class, potty training, crate training and more! Social Hour is $15 per puppy.

Puppy Preschool: Saturdays at 11:00am starting February 25th. For puppies up to 6 months. Tanja is excited to offer a Star Puppy Class for Barley’s clients! Puppy preschool will cover all the basics you and your pup need, as well as a social experience for them to learn dog communication and more! Class is $125 for 5 weeks.

Canine Connection: Wednesdays at 7:30pm starting February 8th. For dogs 8 months and up. Suzy knows this course will help you build a better bond with your pooch by enhancing their recall skills, adding nose work activities to their schedule (especially helpful during those cold, rainy/snowy days!) and encouraging the dogs to focus on their handler during high distraction situations. Class is $125 for 5 weeks.

Basic Obedience: Saturdays at 9:30am starting February 11th. For dogs 8 months and up. Basic obedience is new and improved with new Barley’s trainer Tanja teaching the class. Class will cover everything your dog needs, to be the best they can be. Sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, recall, and more! $125 for 5 weeks

Clicks and Tricks Part 1: Saturday, February 11th at 11:00am. This 2 part workshop taught by Tanja will teach you how to use a clicker to better communicate with your dog in a universal language that they will be able to understand. Part one is a basic introduction of what a clicker is, how to use it the right way. $25 per dog.

Clicks and Tricks Part 2: Saturday, February 18th at 11:00am. Now that your dog is conditioned to the clicker, it’s time to have some fun! We will teach you how to train your dog to do all sorts of amazing tricks, using the clicker to mark the exact behavior you are looking for. Clicks and Tricks Part 1 is a prerequisite to take Part 2. $20 per dog.

Boredom Busters Workshop: Monday, February 13th at 7:30pm. Help your dog ward off the winter blues by discussing and practicing activities for indoor playtime and those times your dog is home alone. Well mannered dogs are welcome to join us, please bring them on a standard leash and a collar/harness. $25 per dog.

Loose Leash Workshop: Thursday, February 16th at 7:30pm. Does your dog pull you when you’re on a walk? Leslie created this workshop to help teach those excessive pullers how to walk nicely, without dragging you down the street. $25 per dog.

Jumpers Anonymous Workshop: Thursday, February 23rd at 7:30pm Compulsive Jumpers wanted! Leslie aims to teach your dog how to greet people politely with their feet on the floor, instead of on the guests. Learn to create boundaries with your dog, and teach them a proper greeting. $25 per dog

 Don’t Move a Muscle, Stay! Workshop: Saturday, February 25th at 1:00pm. Stay means stay! In this workshop, Leslie will be teaching you how to communicate with you dog that stay means stay where you are, no matter what! $25 per dog.

 Intro to Tricks Workshop: Saturday, February 25th at 2:30pm. Sit Pretty! Roll Over! Shake! Intro to tricks will teach you the fundamentals to turn your dog into an all-star! Leslie is coming prepared with lots of treats, praise and excitement to get your dog using their brain and turn them into a trick pro. $25 per dog.

Power Steering: How Do Training Tools Work and Why? Seminar: Monday, February 27th at 7:30pm. This FREE SEMINAR is open to all who can attend. Have you ever wondered why some trainers choose harnesses over collars? Leslie, Tanja and Suzy want to show you how each and every training tool works, and why they are used for different circumstances. We will cover the use of every tool, from collars to harnesses to e-collars. The seminar is Free! Please come without your dog.

-Feliz Naughty Dog Seminar: Tuesday, December 20th at 7:30pm. Learn how to prep your home, your dog, and your family for the holidays including tips for arriving guests and dinner time behavior! Well behaved dogs on leash are welcome. Seminar is FREE!
UPCOMING CLASSES!
-Puppy Kindergarten: Tuesday nights at 7:30pm starting January 10th. This is a new class for Barley’s based on AKC Puppy Star with a whole lot of playing and socialization, and a little training too. Puppies up to 6 months of age are welcome to come, socialize, and learn how to play with other dogs under the supervision of our trainer, Suzy. Because this is an ongoing class, prices vary:  $12.50 to pre-pay up to the day before, or you can purchase a 4 week pass at $40.
-Puppy 1st Grade: Wednesdays at 7:30pm starting January 11th. Puppy 1st Grade is for all puppies up to 6 months old. Similar to Puppy Kindergarten but with a lot more training and a little less playing. Puppies will be taught basic obedience skills by Suzy such as sit, down, loose leash walking, etc. This class will also cover puppy specific issues like potty training and crate training. $125 for 5 weeks.
-Puppy 2nd Grade: Thursdays at 7:30pm starting January 12th. For puppies 6 months old up to a year. 2nd Grade will run the same as 1st Grade, but for the older puppies. Class will cover basic obedience skills such as sit, down, loose leash walking, etc. And will also cover puppy specific issues like name recognition and crate training. $125 for 5 weeks.
-Basic Obedience: Saturdays at 9am, starting January 7th. For dogs 1 year and up. Basic obedience is new and improved with new Barley’s trainer Tanja teaching the class. Basic obedience will cover everything your dog needs to be the best they can. Sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, recall, and more! $125 for 5 weeks.
-Canine Good Citizen Prep Class: Saturdays at 11am, starting January 7th. For dogs 1 year and up. We are happy to start offering a class that will help you and your dog prepare to take the Canine Good Citizen test, or the CCG. Tanja will be teaching the class, and will be there every step of the way to help turn you and your dog into an unstoppable team! Evaluations will be held on the 5th week of classes for those who are ready to test. $125 for 5 weeks.
UPCOMING WORKSHOPS!
-Focus on Me Workshop: Saturday, January 7th at 2pm. Come learn how to teach your dog to focus on you instead of paying attention to other distractions. $25 per dog.
-Reactive Dog Workshop: Saturday, January 14th at 2pm. Does your dog bark at other dogs or people when they’re on leash? Are they just so excited to see other dogs or people they won’t listen to you or stay with you? This workshop is all about learning how to handle your dog when they are lunging and barking at other dogs instead of walking with you. $25 per dog.
-Recall 2.0 Workshop: Saturday, January 21st at 2pm. Teach your dog how to come to you, every time, even with high distractions! Recall 2.0 is building on your dog’s current recall, and adding in a lot of distractions to teach your dog that you are more exciting than whatever else is around. $25 per dog.
-4 on the Floor Workshop: Saturday, January 28th at 2pm. Compulsive Jumpers wanted! 4 on the Floor aims to teach your dog how to greet people politely with their feet on the floor, instead of on the guests. Learn to create boundaries with your dog, and teach them a proper greeting. $25 per dog.

Barley’s now offers private dog training sessions to accommodate any specific training techniques you and your pooch may need help with. All private training sessions begin with a free consultation to evaluate the issues at hand and provide problem solving scenarios to help make a well informed decision on the style and length of training to move forward with.

October Dog Training Classes

This will be our last round of classes before we break for the holiday season so get your pooch in to fine tune those skills!

-Pool Recall Workshop: Wednesday November 2nd @ 6pm. $25 per dog. Call us to sign up!
-Basic Obedience : The next class will begin on October 18th and will meet every Tuesday at 7:30 pm. This course covers beginning and intermediate skill levels with sit, down, stay, come, off, loose leash walking, proper greetings, boundaries, resource guarding and many other training tips.
-Puppy 1: The next beginning puppy training class will start on Saturday October 22nd and will meet for four consecutive weeks at 9:30 am. This course is designed for puppies up to 4 months old and covers basic skills, socialization and offers solutions to common puppy challenges. The rabies vaccination is not required.
-Puppy Training 2: The next class will begin on October 22nd and will meet every Saturday at 11 am. This course is designed for puppies between 4-8 months old that need to fine tune their skills learned in Puppy 1 as well as adding more distractions and advancing their socialization skills. The rabies vaccination along with DAPP and bordetella is required.
-Canine Connection: This brand new class will begin on October 19th and will run every Wednesday at 7:30 pm. This course will build a better bond with your pooch by enhancing their recall skills, adding nose work activities to their schedule and getting the dogs to focus on their handler during high distraction situations.

-Puppy Training 2: The next class will begin on Sept 13th and will meet every Tuesday at 7:30 pm. This course is designed for puppies between 4-8 months old that need to fine tune their skills learned in Puppy 1. The rabies vaccination along with DAPP and bordetella is required.
-Life Saving: The next class will begin on Sept 10th and will run every Saturday at 9:30 am. This course will cover life savings skills such as sit, recall, stay, leave it and getting the dogs to focus on their handler during stressful or emergency situations.

August Training Classes

We are offering all of our training classes at a discounted rate – only $100 for 4 weeks of training! Come in to polish up your skills, fine tune your pups manners, and learn new ways to strengthen the bond between you and your furry best friend.

-Basic Obedience : The next class will begin on Aug 17th and will meet every Wednesday at 7:30 pm. This course covers beginning and intermediate skill levels with sit, down, stay, come, off, loose leash walking, proper greetings, boundaries, resource guarding and many other training tips.
-Puppy 1: The next beginning puppy training class will start on Tuesday Aug 16th and will meet for four consecutive weeks at 7:30 pm. This course is designed for puppies up to 4 months old. The rabies vaccination is not required.
-Puppy Training 2: The next class will begin on Aug 13th and will meet every Saturday at 9:30 am. This course is designed for puppies between 4-8 months old that need to fine tune their skills learned in Puppy 1. The rabies vaccination along with DAPP and bordetella is required.
-Tricks: This class will begin on Saturday Aug 13th and will meet every Saturday at 11 am. This fun course will include nose work, targeting, basic tricks and offering behaviors. All pups over 4 months old are welcome to attend!

-Puppy 1: The next beginning puppy training class will begin on Saturday July 16th and will meet for four consecutive weeks at 9:30 am. This course is designed for puppies up to 4 months old. The rabies vaccination is not required. This class will lay the foundation for raising a well behaved pup and will cover sit, down, place, wait, socializing, potty training, jumping, chewing, biting and any other issues the little curious ones are experiencing.

-Puppy 2: The next class will begin on July 11th and will meet every Monday at 7:30 pm. This course is designed for puppies 4-8 months old. The class will build on the foundation from Puppy 1 training and cover more advanced skills by adding distractions to sit, down, place, social manners, leash manners and recall.

-Leash Walking: Course start date TBD, call or email to sign up for the next class. This course will curb the leash pulling issues and encourage leisurely walks while triggers such as children, bikers and skateboarders are happening around you. The last class will meet for a group on-leash walk at the park.
